Hello Antonio. On my MacBook Pro, I can boot from the USB drive. In fact, I did this once, booting to my SuperDuper cloned backup of OS X 10.4.11 in order to check some settings. I just had to hold down the alt/option key as the MBP was powering up in order to select which volume to boot.

The recently-revised MBP's look like nice machines. You could also hold out for the Centrino 2 (Montevina) chipset, which will probably come out on revised MBPs sometime this summer or fall.

What about the fact that you can't boot from a USB drive? This is an issue for me, since I too, have a 500gb lacie usb unit for back up. Fortunately I haven't needed to boot from it, but I just wonder how hard it would be to restore from that scenario. Oh well......a new MBP might be in my future pretty soon. My Powerbook serves me fine, but, more speed and options are a good thing. I think the time saved on video encoding with Flip4Mac & Quicktime will pay for itself alone.
